Samsung is bringing its TV Plus platform to the company’s line of smartphones.

The free streaming TV service has proven to be a hit with Samsung smart TV owners, and the company is hoping to replicate that success by bringing TV Plus to its current lineup of Galaxy smartphones starting this week.

The service aggregates streaming channels programmed by Pluto TV and Comcast-owned Xumo along with feeds from third-party providers, including Fox Corporation, FilmRise and Bloomberg TV. No broadcast or cable networks are included in the service, and Samsung itself does not program any of the channels that appear on TV Plus.

As of Tuesday, TV Plus offered smart TV viewers access to 135 channels of content, including live news, replay sports, reruns of TV shows, second-run movies and digital-only programs.

Starting Wednesday, TV Plus will be available to download from the Google Play and Samsung App stores on the company’s top line of Android-powered smartphones. Compatible phones include the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10. It was not immediately clear why other Samsung phones and its entire lineup of tablets were not compatible with the service, though many of the same channels can be access via the Pluto TV and Xumo apps.
