Canadian television hardware maker Nuvyyo has released a new version of its Tablo digital video recorder (DVR) that features four tuners and plugs right into the back of a TV set.
Announced on Thursday, the Tablo Quad HDMI is designed to benefit customers who want to watch and record live over-the-air television broadcasts without needing to set up a separate streaming TV device.
The Tablo Quad HDMI has four integrated digital television tuners for watching or recording four channels simultaneously. It requires an external hard drive, which can be purchased at Amazon for less than $50.
Nuvvyo is known for its line of easy-to-use Tablo DVRs that, when paired with a streaming TV device like a Roku or Amazon Fire TV stick, allows viewers to watch and record live TV anywhere in their home. Tablo uses a home’s wired or wireless network to send broadcast TV signals to smart TV devices and are also compatible with smartphones, tablets, desktop computers and laptop computers.
The Tablo Dual HDMI and Tablo Quad HDMI is designed to be plug-and-play right out of the box and has support for some smart TV devices. The Tablo Quad HDMI costs $200 and is sold exclusively through Tablo’s website.
Some Tablo DVRs are also available to purchase at Amazon and Best Buy.
