Digi TV, a new digital broadcast network that randomly popped up in some parts of the country earlier this month, says it will formally launch in 30 markets by the end of September, with another five markets covered by November 1.
The markets were revealed on a new page of Digi TV’s website that was published sometime within the last few days.
As first reported by The Desk earlier this month, the majority of stations that will affiliate with Digi TV appear to be ones whose primary network is either Univision or Unimás, with many Univision owned-and-operated stations agreeing to give space to Digi TV on their digital lineup.
The country’s two biggest television markets —New York City and Los Angeles — will each have access to Digi TV at launch. Other major stations slated to launch Digi TV include Boston, Dallas (Fort Worth), Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento and Salt Lake City.
Digi TV says it plans to expand to five other markets — Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jackson, Mississippi; Montgomery, Alabama; Savanna, Georgia and Sioux Falls, South Dakota by November 1.
The network is expected to air a slate of general entertainment, knowledge and lifestyle shows, according to a teaser trailer that has aired on a loop across some of the digital channels that are expected to carry the network.
Shows that are expected to air on Digi TV include:
- Blue Heelers (Australia)
- City Homicide (Australia)
- Country House Rescue (UK)
- The Gadget Show (UK)
- The Island with Bear Grylls (UK)
- Midsomer Murders (UK)
- The Renovators (Australian)
- The Restoration Man (UK)
Few details are known about the company that is operating Digi TV: According to its website and legal filings reviewed by The Desk, the network’s owner is listed as Net X Holdings, LLC, a company that registered earlier this year as a for-profit corporation in Delaware and as a foreign-owned limited liability company in Georgia. An address for the company’s Georgia location returned to a generic office building in Atlanta that is associated with a wide range of other, non-affiliated businesses.
