Several bugs that have plagued YouTube TV subscribers for weeks are being addressed, a spokesperson for the company said in a social media post late Thursday evening.
A community manager for the official YouTube TV group on Reddit said the bugs include stuttering video, out of sync audio and numerous issues with the service’s Apple TV app.
The Apple TV glitches have been particularly problematic, with Reddit users complaining for months that the YouTube TV app on that platform has been particularly unstable. The problems were so bad that the YouTube TV team eventually rolled the app back to a prior version, which removed a newer version of the YouTube TV electronic program guide for Apple TV users.
On Thursday, YouTube TV community manager “Jessie” wrote that the service was aware of the problems and engineers were working to deploy fixes.
Specifically, Jessie wrote that the YouTube TV engineering team is focused on improving video quality on live content, to include rectifying stuttering video glitches as well as problems with out-of-sync video when subscribers use 5.1-channel surround sound.
On Apple TV, YouTube TV has rolled out an updated version of its app that reintroduces the newer electronic program guide, and engineers are working to fix a number of other bugs, including users seeing black screens or problems with HDR switching and ultra-high definition (UHD/4K) resolution.
“We’re constantly testing and developing ways to increase the app’s performance across the board,” Jessie wrote, urging YouTube TV subscribers to share information about bugs and glitches with them, so they can properly address them.
“The more info you share, the faster we can get these issues resolved,” Jessie continued. “A picture of your Stats for Nerds, your device’s model number, what troubleshooting steps you’ve tried, and the impacted channel’s call sign are all super helpful when we’re trying to understand what’s causing an issue.
