Sinclair said the move is intended to encourage more public TV stations to sign on to NextGen TV, which will help them reach viewers already using the new digital broadcast standard.
Sinclair’s Comet digital network will broadcast the 51st annual Comet Awards on March 2nd.
Sinclair has signed an agreement with peer broadcaster TEGNA to distribute its digital network The Nest in more cities across the country.
The agreement will keep Fox programming on Sinclair-owned or operated stations in nearly four dozen markets.
