Deutsche Telekom’s pay television service Magenta TV is launching the first of three new channels dedicated to European football (soccer).

The channel, called Fußball.TV 1, will roll out to Magenta TV subscribers in Germany and will be included at no extra cost, the company said this week.

Fußball.TV will offer rolling coverage of the European Football Championships this year, including UEFA Euro 2024 several weeks before the tournament takes place.

Ancillary programming like documentaries and highlight shows will air when live events are not available.

“At Magenta TV, we are deliberately starting the football summer in April,” Arnim Butzen, the head of television at Deutsche Telekom, said in a statement. “The whole of Germany is looking forward to the sporting event of the decade, and we will be leading up to UEFA Euro 2024 with content-rich and entertaining formats before Germany kicks off against Scotland in Munich on June 14.”

Magenta TV will offer more than 50 live soccer matches in ultra high-definition (UHD/4K) quality from the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.

“Our all-in-one package is therefore the first choice for all football fans,” Butzen said.

Fußball.TV 1 launches on April 15.
