The Fox News Channel will host a town hall event with former U.S. President Donald Trump in early June, a spokesperson for the network confirmed to The Desk on Thursday.

The town hall will be moderated by Fox News prime-time personality Sean Hannity, and will air on Thursday, June 1 at 9 p.m. The program will tape earlier in the day during a Trump appearance in Clive, Iowa.

It will be Trump’s second time participating in a town hall-style program on a cable news channel since he announced his intention to run for a second presidential term in March. His first town hall event aired earlier this month on CNN.

The CNN town hall event with Trump drew more than 3 million concurrent viewers, but the ratings win didn’t last for the network, which was beleaguered with criticism by viewers and media pundits alike in the days that followed. Two days after the town hall event, Nielsen ratings showed CNN fell behind right-of-center commentary channel Newsmax, with its prime-time programming pulling in around 335,000 viewers.

Fox will probably not face the same outcome, as its prime-time programming tends to score higher ratings on any given night compared to CNN and Comcast-owned MSNBC, and Trump himself is something of a media darling among conservative viewers who make the core of the Fox News audience.
