Amazon’s free streaming television service IMDb TV will rebrand as Freevee, the company said in a news release on Wednesday.

The rebranding includes a commitment from Amazon to increase the amount of original programming offered on the free, ad-supported streaming service by 70 percent and expand it to other territories, including Germany.

“We’re looking forward to building on this momentum with an increasing slate of inventive and broadly appealing Originals, and are excited to establish Freevee as the premier [advertising-supported streaming] service with content audiences crave,” Jennifer Salke, an executive in charge of Amazon Studios, said in a news release.

Freevee’s expanded content will likely include shows and movies Amazon acquired through its $8.5 billion purchase of MGM Studios, which closed last month.

Amazon says it will also offer original content like the spinoff show “Bosch: Legacy” as well as movies produced specifically for Freevee. Current originals streaming on Freevee include “Justice Judy,” “Alex Rider” and “Pretty Hard Cases.”

“Our new name clearly communicates who we are: An easy-to-navigate streaming service, available to users for free, whenever and wherever they choose to watch some of the greatest Original and licensed content available,” Ashraf Alkarmi, an executive in charge of Freevee at Amazon, said in a prepared statement.

The Freevee app is expected to replace the IMDb TV service on supported devices, including Apple’s iOS (iPad, iPhone), Amazon’s own Fire TV, Roku, Google TV (Android TV), Samsung Tizen, LG WebOS, Comcast X1, Microsoft XBox and PlayStation game consoles.
