James Meyer, the chief executive of streaming audio company SiriusXM Pandora, will retire at the end of the year, the company announced Tuesday morning.

Meyer has served as the head of SiriusXM Satellite Radio and its successor company, SiriusXM Pandora, since December 2012.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Jim for his outstanding service, helping to create the leader in audio entertainment in North America,” Greg Maffei, the chairman of SiriusXM’s board of directors, said in a statement. “During his tenure as CEO, SiriusXM has grown to become a diversified audio entertainment provider that is poised to reach more than 150 million people, the largest addressable digital audio audience in North America. We are a better company for his stewardship. We look forward to continuing to work with him on the board and to build on SiriusXM’s strong momentum.”

Following his retirement, SiriusXM Pandora’s president of sales and marketing Jennifer Witz will take his place. Witz joined SiriusXM in 2002 from ViacomCBS. Taking her place is Sean Sullivan, a former AMC Networks executive who will join SiriusXM Pandora as the company’s new chief financial executive at the end of the year.
