Paramount Global said on Wednesday it will launch its Paramount Plus streaming service in Japan through a partnership with a cable television provider and the operator of a multiplex movie network.

The service will debut in Japan on December 1, and will be distributed by cable provider JCom (“J:Com”) and movie network Wowow. Customers of JCom and subscribers of Wowow will get access to Paramount Plus at no additional cost, the company said.

“With the launch of Paramount Plus in Japan, we are now delivering hours of popular films and series to fans in all key streaming markets worldwide,” Marco Nobili, the executive vice president and international general manager of Paramount Plus International, said in a statement. “It is an important milestone for us and a critical step for the future of our streaming business, [and] I am excited to strengthen our collaboration with JCom and Wowow to offer their audiences incredible content and beloved stars and characters from our iconic studios and brands.”

It marks the second launch of Paramount Plus in Asia since the service debuted several years ago. Paramount Plus became available in South Korea last year.

Paramount Plus has more than 61 million subscribers around the world, with the service distributed in 45 markets. Content from Paramount Plus is also available through Sky Showtime, a European streaming service operated as a joint venture with Comcast’s NBC Universal.
