Customers of Charter Communications’ Spectrum TV and Internet services will get an extended free trial of Comcast’s Peacock streaming service as part of a new carriage deal announced on Thursday.

The extended free trial is for Peacock’s premium tier, which includes an expansive library of TV shows and movies with short commercial interruptions. The tier normally goes for $5 a month, though a free version of Peacock is also available to Spectrum and non-Spectrum customers alike with a limited amount of content.

The trial is part of a new carriage deal between Comcast and Charter/Spectrum, the companies said. Under the deal reached this week, Charter/Spectrum customers will continue to have access to Comcast’s portfolio of broadcast and cable networks, including NBC-owned stations, NBC Sports Network, regional NBC Sports stations, E!, Bravo, USA, MSNBC, CNBC and others.

“Charter is a valued partner with passionate NBC Universal fans in millions of homes nationwide,” Matt Bond, the chairman of content distribution at NBC Universal, said in a statement. “We look forward to delivering our industry-leading network content portfolio, as well as the strong collection of original and library content in our Peacock Premium offering, to Charter’s subscribers everywhere.”

The deal will also result in Charter eventually adding access to Peacock via Spectrum’s traditional electronic program guide, though no timetable was announced for this feature.

Peacock is available across a wide range of streaming TV devices, including Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast with Google TV, Roku, Microsoft XBox and Sony’s PlayStation devices. The app is currently not available on Samsung’s Tizen or Amazon Fire TV devices.
