Wallet-friendly service Philo is adding around a half-dozen new linear content channels to its budget streamer, bringing the total number of channels offered to more than 80.

Some of the nine channels launched on Philo this week are part of a new content distribution deal with Cineverse, the streaming company that rebranded from Cinedigm earlier in the week.

The new channels rolling out to Philo customers include:

  • The Bob Ross Channel
  • Comedy Dynamics
  • Cowboy Way Channel
  • Drag Race Universe
  • FailArmy
  • Outside TV
  • People are Awesome
  • The Pet Collective
  • Screambox TV

The new channels were accidentally announced last week by Philo through their social marketing channels, only for the posts to be deleted a short time later. A spokesperson for the company later confirmed via Reddit that the channels were coming this week, but weren’t ready to be announced just yet. Philo later emailed reporters asking them to hold off on the news until Tuesday.

The announcement of the new channels on Philo comes on the same day Cineverse began trading shares of its public stock under its new name. Reached by e-mail, a Philo spokesperson said the timing was coincidental. On Monday, Cineverse’s predecessor Cinedigm was trading at around 29 cents per share.

In addition to the new Cineverse channels, Philo offers streaming versions of live cable networks from Warner Bros Discovery (Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, HGTV), A+E Networks (A&E, History Channel, Lifetime), AMC Networks (AMC, IFC, BBC America, BBC World News, Sundance, We TV), Paramount Global (Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV, Pop, BET, TV Land, Paramount Network) and others, starting at $25 a month. The service is widely accessible on smart TVs, phones, tablets and computers, and offers a 7-day free trial to new customers.
