Scripps launches two new free streaming channels

The E. W. Scripps Company has debuted two new free, ad-supported streaming television channels.

The first, called Laff More, is a free streaming version of Scripps’ Laff television network, offering retro sitcoms and comedy series, including “Alf,” “World’s Funniest Videos” and “Just for Laughs.”

The other, Court TV Legendary Trials, explores Court TV’s library of televised trials, with new commentary from current and past Court TV personalities.

“People have flocked to our website to watch Court TV’s trial archive, and when we’ve posted clips on other digital platforms, including YouTube, they’ve watched in record numbers,” Ethan Nelson, a Scripps executive in charge of the Court TV television channel, said in a statement. “In just the past year alone, Court TV more than doubled its hours of viewing on digital [and] streaming. We anticipate that Court TV: Legendary Trials will be added to the must-watch lists of the enormous number of true-crime fans.”

Both channels launched on the free streaming platform Plex late last week, and each are being added to Amazon’s Freevee and Xumo Play this week. Court TV Legendary Trials will also appear on the premium streaming service Fubo, while Laff More will land on LG Channels.

The free, ad-supported channels join a growing roster of free offerings at Scripps, which include the streaming news channel Scripps News, broadcast networks Ion and Ion Mystery, Grit Xtra and Bounce XL.
