Seth Rogen teams up with SiriusXM for new podcast

Comedian Seth Rogen is teaming up with SiriusXM Pandora for a new podcast series that will be produced and distributed by the satellite company’s on-demand audio subsidiary.

The podcast will take the form of a storytelling series that will see Rogan invite a guest “to share a single story, whether hilarious, harrowing or heartwarming,” SiriusXM said in a statement on Tuesday.

The satellite radio company says the storytelling series, which has yet to be named, will be of high production value — it will weave “rhythmic editing…supporting interviews and archival tape” with “a tuneful sound design and score.”

The show will be produced by Earwolf, the podcast production company behind the wildly successful interview series “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend.” Earwolf is a subsidiary of Stitcher, a podcast platform that SiriusXM Pandora acquired last year.

In a statement, Rogan said many of the episodes are already finished.

“Recording and editing these episodes has been a thrilling and rewarding experience,” Rogen said. “Bringing people’s stories to life in these sort of ‘audio documentaries’ has given me amazing insight into what makes up the most impactful moments in people’s lives and how they contextualize these moments.”

The series will be produced by Richard Parks, III and Frida Perez. Both have contributed to successful shows distributed by Southern California public radio station KCRW (89.9 FM).

“I think Frida, Richard and I have been able to do something that even I am shocked by: produce what seems like an original podcast,” Rogen said.

SiriusXM Pandora says the show will be distributed across its owned platforms, including the SiriusXM satellite radio app, the Pandora streaming music player and Stitcher. It will also be available to download on third party podcast apps, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.
