Discovery halts original programming on some WarnerMedia cable nets
Executives at Warner Bros Discovery have halted the development of original programming on TBS and TNT.
Warner Bros Discovery is an international mass media conglomerate that was formed by the merger of AT&T’s WarnerMedia with Discovery, Inc. in April 2022. The company owns several domestic and international pay television channels — including CNN, TBS, TNT, the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, HBO, Cinemax, Eurosport, AT&T Sportsnet, TVN Poland and Three (New Zealand) — along with streaming services HBO Max and Discovery Plus. The company is based in New York City.

HBO added three million new subscribers over the last three months, bringing the total number of subscribers to 76.8 million.
Discovery executives have decided to close CNN Plus, the ambitious streaming news startup launched less than a month ago.
A strategy being considered would incorporate CNN Plus content into HBO Max while winding down several daily news shows.
Streaming news service CNN Plus has grabbed around 100,000 subscribers, according to a report.
A CNN spokesperson said the company was “happy with the launch and its progress after only two weeks.”
