Comcast adds anime-centric Crunchyroll to Xfinity, Xumo devices
Comcast has added anime-centric streaming service Crunchyroll to its Xfinity and Xumo devices.
X1 is the name of an operating system developed by Comcast for its line of next-generation video set-top boxes which also carry the X1 brand. The operating system offers access to Comcast’s live pay TV channels alongside third party streaming TV apps (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, etc.) and data services.
Comcast uses X1 for its own hardware and licenses the operating system to third party Internet and cable companies. X1 is also the operating system that powers Comcast’s streaming television box called Flex, which is offered to the company’s Internet-only customers.
Comcast has added anime-centric streaming service Crunchyroll to its Xfinity and Xumo devices.
Comcast said 87 percent of Xfinity TV subscribers with X1 set-top boxes watched Olympic events on NBC, cable networks and Peacock.
Cox Communications has partnered with Xumo Enterprises to integrate 20 FAST channels into the EPG of Contour set-top boxes.
Comcast is rolling out a new interactive sports platform and will offer live odds from DraftKings on X1 set-top boxes this month.
Comcast has begun offering around 20 Xumo-powered, ad-supported streaming channels to its traditional video customers via the X1 platform
Customers will need to link a bank account by July 20 to get $10 off their service. Credit card users will get a reduced discount of $5 per month.
