Voice of America

Voice of America (VOA) is the primary external broadcaster of the United States. It is operated by the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which receives funding through Congressional appropriation, but is intended to operate free from government interference.

VOA delivers news, information and entertainment in four dozen languages, and has a global reach through conventional AM, FM and shortwave radio and via audio streaming platforms. VOA also operates a television broadcast unit and a digital publishing arm, the latter of which primarily distributes original reporting and third-party news articles via the VOA website and social media platforms.

VOA is a sister broadcaster to other USAGM outlets, including the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Al Hurra, Radio Sawa), Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, Radio Marti (Cuba) and Worldnet TV. VOA is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
