Spectrum Business launches hub for entrepreneurs

Charter Communications is helping entrepreneurs start their small business through a new initiative called “Let’s Get Started.”

The program, operated through the company’s Spectrum Business division, includes an online portal full of free resources, how-to guides and other information aimed at helping entrepreneurs launch and grow their business.

“We’re seeing more and more self-starters in the cities and towns we serve with great ideas, but they need help to turn their passion into successful businesses,” Sharon Peters, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Charter, said in a statement. “As a company we are deeply invested in the communities where we operate, and with Let’s Get Started we can provide valuable information, tools and resources to help the next generation of local entrepreneurs turn their dreams into a thriving business reality.”

More than 10.5 million new business applications were filed between 2021 and 2022, according to data from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. New business formation has increase 20 percent each year for the last three years, according to the U.S. Census and Small Business Administration.

The uptick is not a coincidence: The two-year coronavirus health pandemic shook the economy, leading to both temporary layoffs and permanent job losses for millions of workers. During that time, many Americans were bitten by the entrepreneurial bug, and decided to go into business for themselves, and Charter says it wants to ensure businesses within its service footprint have the tools needed to grow their business and succeed over the long term.

The Let’s Get Started portal includes free access to more than 10,000 mentors through SCORE, the philanthropic division of the SCORE Foundation. Spectrum Business will offer in-person insight into the Let’s Get Started program and its various small business products at several small business trade shows throughout the year, including events in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.
