Samsung and Altice have inked a distribution agreement that will see streamers in France gain access to around a dozen Altice-owned streaming channels on the regional variant of Samsung TV Plus there.
The new channels debuting on Samsung TV Plus in France include BFM TV, BFM Business, RMC Story, RMC Découverte and Tech & Co, which will be available for free across devices that support the streaming service like Samsung’s smart TVs and Galaxy phones and tablets.
All told, eight free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels owned by Altice will debut on Samsung TV Plus in France early next year. Six will be exclusive to Samsung TV Plus, and will offer more than 3,000 hours of live and on-demand content each year, the companies said in a statement on Wednesday.
“This partnership allows Samsung TV Plus to continue its growth in France, to enrich its range of quality programs and extend its free streaming offer from Altice with a large catalog of more than [3,000] hours of programs through 2024,” a spokesperson for Altice said in a statement.
As part of the arrangement, Samsung and Altice will also work on solutions to offer targeted advertising to streamers who watch Altice-owned channels through Samsung TV Plus, the companies said.
Samsung TV Plus is available on supported Samsung devices in 16 European countries and territories, including France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
