Bluesky has seen a significant decline in active usage nearly two years after benefiting from an influx of users leaving X following the 2024 U.S. election: According to fresh data from intelligence platform Similarweb, Bluesky’s mobile app had 10.4 million monthly active users worldwide in June, down 27.2 percent year over year, while daily active users fell 25.6 percent in July to about 3 million. Monthly active usage has dropped roughly 52 percent from its late-2024 peak, even as registered accounts have continued to grow.
The company is increasingly emphasizing the broader AT Protocol ecosystem rather than Bluesky alone, with projects including BlackSky, Eurosky, Skylight and the AI-powered Attie. Meanwhile, Threads has continued to gain ground, with daily active users rising 21.3 percent year over year to 147 million in July, while X recorded a 7 percent decline in daily active mobile users to 123.7 million.
