Comcast considers buying TV manufacturer to bolster XClass, report says
Comcast has approached several television manufacturers about a possible acquisition, according to a report published this week.
Flex is an X1-powered streaming television set-top box developed by Comcast for the company’s Internet-only customers. The hardware offers access to third party streaming television applications (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube, etc.). It also offers premium video subscriptions sold by Comcast.

Comcast’s Flex set-top box users now have access to Discovery Plus, the companies announced on Thursday.
Comcast has started rolling out Disney’s suite of streaming TV apps to users of the cable company’s X1-powere devices.
Customers with an incompatible X1 or Flex box can upgrade for free if they want to watch HBO Max or CBS All Access.
AT&T’s blockbuster streaming service HBO Max is now available on Comcast’s X1 and Flex set-top boxes.
The rollout comes more than six months after Comcast said HBO Max would be offered natively to X1 and Flex users.
