Veteran KCRA-TV (Channel 3) reporter Tom DuHain will retire from the station on Friday after spending nearly five decades covering stories of interest in Northern California.
DuHain’s retirement was first reported by the Sacramento Bee newspaper. He confirmed the news in a video posted on the Sacramento Bee’s YouTube channel Thursday afternoon.
DuHain has worked his entire news career at KCRA, starting in the newsroom at the age of 18 when he was still in high school.
“I used to be known as ‘the kid’ in the newsroom,” DuHain said. “But now I’m leaving at age 64…that’s been a lifetime of work at KCRA.”
DuHain said he’ll miss the opportunity to travel, meet people and tell their stories. “That part of the job I’m going to miss,” he said. “I’m going to miss going places and seeing things.”
DuHain’s last day with the station will be January 16.
