YouTube TV will add the NFL Network and a handful of other sports channels in September, according to a source.
Plans for the Google-backed streaming TV service call for the NFL Network to be included in the company’s base package of programming, which starts at $65 a month for around 80 channels.
YouTube TV will also offer subscribers the option to add on other sports channels, including NFL RedZone, Fox Soccer Plus and Sinclair-backed Stadium Network. It was not immediately clear how much that package will cost, though the source said the channels should be made available sometime within the next two weeks.
Information about the new channels were first noticed by Reddit users in the YouTube TV community early Monday afternoon. Pages spotted by Reddit users that bore the names of the upcoming networks were pulled from the YouTube TV app by Monday evening.
NFL Network and NFL RedZone are somewhat difficult to find on linear streaming television services. Dish Network-owned Sling TV dropped both channels in June, leaving sports-centric Fubo and upstart Vidgo as the only over-the-top services offering the football channels.
NFL RedZone is also available as a premium add on to DirecTV’s streaming version of NFL Sunday Ticket, which has been made available in recent years to AT&T’s DirecTV subscribers and those who live in dwellings where a satellite dish isn’t possible. This year, AT&T is expected to make the streaming version of NFL Sunday Ticket available to the public for around $300.
