YouTube TV is showing its appreciation for some long-time customers with an offer to grab a new Chromecast with Google TV on them.

This week, some subscribers reported receiving a message from YouTube TV with an offer to get the next-generation Chromecast device for free.

The offer is available to current subscribers who have maintained an active YouTube TV account since June 1, 2018. Back then, the streaming service cost $40 a month for around 60 pay TV channels; it now costs subscribers $65 a month for more than 80 channels.

“We wanted to say thanks and offer you, a longtime friend of YouTube TV, a new Chromecast with Google TV on us,” the email sent to eligible customers said. One free device is available per account, the company said, and the offer is not transferable.

New YouTube TV customers can also get a Chromecast with Google TV for free when they pre-pay for one month of the streaming service by December 31.

The new Chromecast with Google TV allows users to install and select smart TV apps through the Google Play Store, similar to other streaming TV hardware. It comes bundled with a Google Assistant-powered remote control, yet it retains the flexibility of casting video content from a smartphone or tablet like older Chromecast devices.

In addition to the Google Play Store, Chromecast with Google TV offers a wealth of other features, including the ability to stream video content in ultra-high definition (UHD/4K) with support for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos. It integrates natively with YouTube TV for streaming live television and features an updated user guide for finding channels, movies and TV shows right from Google TV’s home screen.

Chromecast with Google TV retails for $50 and is available to purchase in-store and online via Best Buy.
