Verizon rolls out Fios TV app to Apple TV, Amazon devices

Verizon is bringing its Fios TV app to users of Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV devices, starting this week.

Customers with at least one Fios TV set-top box on their account will be allowed to download and access the Fios TV app on as many Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV devices as they want, without the need to purchase additional set-top boxes.

At least one set-top box is required on a customer’s account, but the move could still save subscribers with multiple TVs a lot of money down the line, since they do not need to rent additional set-top boxes from Verizon in order to view programming on other TV sets in their homes.

The catch: Verizon is limiting customers to two concurrent streams on Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV for every Fios TV set-top box on their account. Verizon includes one Fios TV set-top box as part of service, with the company’s base subscription pay TV package costing less than $60 a month.
