Amazon is offering Prime members a deep discount on subscriptions to premium movie networks Showtime and Starz within the Prime Video app — but only for a very limited time.
Amazon Prime members who click or tap this link can score a Showtime subscription within the Prime Video app for $4 a month, a price that is good for at least six months of service. Normally, Showtime costs $11 a month when purchased through Prime Video or separately through the standalone Showtime app.
Not to be outdone, Amazon is also offering Prime members a deal on movie network Starz, where customers can score three months of the service for $2 per month when they click or tap this link. Starz typically costs $9 a month when purchased through Prime Video or through the standalone Starz streaming app.
A Showtime or Starz subscription purchased through Amazon allows customers to watch movies, television shows and original programming from either network (or both, if customers take advantage of each deal) without having to leave the Prime Video app. That makes it incredibly easy to access thousands of movies and television shows offered by each (or, again, both) premium brand alongside Amazon’s own library of premium content through Prime and licensed TV shows and movies through its ad-supported Freevee service.
On top of the on-demand catalogs from each service, Amazon allows customers to stream Showtime’s nine multiplex movie channels and Starz’s 16 multiplex channels — the same channels found on cable and satellite — as part of each subscription.
The Showtime deal is only available until the end of Friday, September 16, while the Starz deal will be around through the end of the month.
Need a new device to take advantage of those streaming deals? Nearly all of Amazon’s Fire TV devices are currently on sale, with the Fire TV Stick Lite offering access to hundreds of high-definition video apps (including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney Plus, YouTube and others) for just $20. The regular Amazon Fire TV stick costs just $5 more and includes an enhanced remote with pre-programmed, app-specific buttons and TV volume controls.
Have a newer-model TV set? Chances are, it can stream content in ultra-high definition (UHD/4K), which means you’ll want to grab the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. That device normally costs $50, but it’s on sale right now for just $30. If you need the absolute best Fire TV device on the market, spring for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which takes full advantage of WiFi 6, the new wireless Internet standard, for just $40.
