Streaming radio platform TuneIn has inked a deal with Sony Pictures Television that will make audio version of the classic game show “Jeopardy!” available on phones, tablets and smart speakers.

The channels, called “Jeopardy! Radio” and “Jeopardy! Radio Classics,” will feature a curated selection of memorable and classic episodes spanning the game show’s four decades on television.

Jeopardy! Radio will serve curated episodes featuring memorable guests and games, including teen episodes and the 74-game run of Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings (who now serves as a co-host of the program).

Jeopardy! Radio Classics will take a deeper dive into the game show’s history by offering access to older episodes of the program, including those that aired on television in the 1980s and 1990s.

In a statement, TuneIn Chief Executive Officer Richard Stern called the game show “an iconic part of American entertainment history” and a program that fits in well with the audio platform’s mission of expanding its roster of entertaining and engaging content.

“The nature of Jeopardy! as an interactive game show fits so well into an audio setting,” Stern said. “Fans who remember these classic episodes and those experiencing them for the first time are able to play along in the car, with their smart home device or simply while taking a walk. This is what makes this partnership such a fun treasure for all TuneIn listeners.”

The deal comes as the show’s producer, Sony Pictures Television, seeks to reach Jeopardy! fans across different platforms. In July, Sony and Paramount Global partnered on a Jeopardy! content stream for Paramount’s free, ad-supported streaming service Pluto TV, marking one of the few times the show has been available to audiences outside of broadcast television.

Sony executives said its partnership with TuneIn fits nicely with the company’s strategy of reaching new fans in different places.

“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways for our fans to play Jeopardy!, which is what makes expanding into world of streaming audio with TuneIn such an exciting proposition for us,” Suzanne Prete, the executive vice president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, said in a statement. “With this partnership, we look forward to bringing the classic ‘clues and responses’ to an even broader audience that extends beyond television.”

The curated Jeopardy! radio streams are available to stream today on TuneIn in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The service is offered as a free download for smartphones, tablets and smart televisions, with radio streams available on Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers.

The streams are free to access, but subscribers of TuneIn’s Premium tier will be able to stream Jeopardy! episodes without advertisements and will have more on-demand content to choose from.
