A GoFundMe fundraiser to assist the family of a Fox News Media executive surpassed $230,000 over the weekend, spurred in part by large donations made by current and former Fox News on-air talent.
The fundraiser was launched late last week to help the wife and children of Alan Komissaroff, the senior vice president of news and political programming at Fox News Media, who passed away Friday from the effects of a heart attack.
Komissaroff was exercising at his home in early January when he told his wife that he wasn’t feeling well. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance, where he slipped into a coma and later died.
Suzanne Scott, the CEO of Fox News Media, and Fox News president Jay Wallace each donated $10,000 to the Komissaroff family’s GoFundMe campaign, as did William Hemmer, Martha MacCallum and Sean Hannity. Trace Gallagher, the anchor of “Fox News at Night” and the channel’s breaking news correspondent, donated $5,000. Matching Gallagher’s donation were other current and former Fox News talent, including Steve Doocy, Tucker Carlson, Neil Cavuto, Shepard Smith and Bret Baier.
Baier paid tribute to Komissaroff at the end of his Fox News Channel program on Friday.
“He’s been a leader here for decades at Fox: Alan started working at the network in 1996 before the official launch,” Baier said. “He’s been a crucial leader in our coverage for every major news event and every election night. Alan recently led a discussion about the midterms at a company town hall. He was a happy warrior. He always had a smile on his face. He was a true professional.”
Komissaroff is survived by his wife Rachael, his 17-year-old son Ben and his 13-year-old daughter Olivia. His memorial was held at a chapel in New Jersey on Sunday.
