Wallet-conscious streaming cable replacement Philo added nine new channels to its platform on Wednesday, including several music video-related streams from Vevo.
The new channels are part of a growing collection of free, ad-supported streaming networks that Philo has steadily incorporated into its streaming cable TV alternative over the last few years.
The streaming channels added to Philo on Wednesday include:
- Chicken Soup for the Soul Channel: Billed as a “lifestyle destination for women featuring inspiring content, hit movies, TV series and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment’s original programming.”
- INFAST: A lifestyle, entertainment and action sports channel.
- INTROUBLE: A steram with action sports.
- INWONDER: Technology, nature and science-related programming.
- Vevo 80s
- Vevo 90s
- Vevo Country
- Vevo Hip-Hop
- Vevo Pop
“These popular, free channels allow you to watch content you know and love without having to leave Philo,” Mitchell Freund, a Philo executive in charge of business development and content acquisitions, said in a statement.
Philo already has an existing relationship with Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, having added the company’s library of on-demand movies and TV shows from its Crackle business in 2021.
In May, Philo added nine free, ad-supported streaming channels to its line-up, including the Bob Ross Channel, FailArmy and Outside TV.
While Philo touts the streams as “free channels,” the channels cannot be access on the service unless customers sign up for a Philo subscription, which costs $25 a month. A subscription to Philo also unlocks dozens of pay TV channels, including AMC, A&E, Animal Planet, BBC America, BET, Comedy Central, CMT, Discovery Channel, History Channel, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network and Vice, to name a few.
New customers can get a 7-day free trial to Philo when they sign up for an account by clicking or tapping here.
