Publisher and television host Dan Abrams will be staying on at Nexstar Media Group’s cable news upstart NewsNation under a new multi-year contract announced on Tuesday.

The agreement comes about a week before Abrams celebrates two years on the air at NewsNation, where he hosts “Dan Abrams Live,” a political and current events commentary program that airs weekdays at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.

“Dan is a veteran and master journalist whose passion for media and law and crime has made him one of the most unrivaled in the industry,” Sean Compton, the president of Nexstar Networks, said in a statement. “We are pleased that he will remain at NewsNation as we continue to build a premier cable news network with a distinct mission of fair and unbiased news reporting.”

It wasn’t clear from the announcement how long Abrams has agreed to stay on at NewsNation. He was brought on board in September 2021 as the network expanded its prime-time programming block. “Dan Abrams Live” initially aired at 8 p.m., but was bumped to the 9 p.m. time slot last year following the launch of former CNN host Chris Cuomo’s self-titled NewsNation program.

“Continuing my show with NewsNation is particularly exciting because over the last two years this has been one of those rare professional experiences where everything has been as promised,” Abrams said on Tuesday. “Every story we cover, every angle I take, comes from my team and me and that makes it fun, challenging, and fulfilling. ‘Dan Abrams Live’ will continue to build on our resonating mission with politically sensible takes on the stories of the day.”

In addition to his hosting duties at NewsNation, Abrams is the founder and CEO of Abrams Media, which operates the Law & Crime Network and publishes the media and entertainment website Mediaite. He also hosts a variety of programs for A&E Network and Reelz, and is the chief legal affairs analyst for ABC News.
