Television production and distribution company Fremantle has expanded its agreement with Paramount Global’s free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) platform Pluto TV to bring more than a dozen linear channels to the service beyond the United States.
Under the expanded agreement, Fremantle and Pluto TV will offer marathon programming channels like “Let’s Make a Deal,” “The Price is Right,” “Supermarket Sweep,” “Baywatch” and “Project Runway” in several European countries for the first time, including Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
In addition to those countries, Fremantle will expand its marathon content channel “Three’s Company” to Canada for the first time.
“Pluto TV’s state-of-the-art platform provides a seamless streaming experience for viewers and makes it the perfect home for our channels,” Laura Florence, the Senior Vice President of Global FAST Channels at Fremantle, said in a statement. “This is the next stage of our valued partnership with Pluto TV, as we continue to evolve our FAST strategy and content delivery for our global audience.”
“We are beyond excited to expand the Fremantle content offering on Pluto TV across international markets,” said Katrina Kowalski, the Senior Vice President of International Content and Acquisitions at Pluto TV. “luto TV’s mission to offer lean-back entertainment for fans around the world harnesses the spirit of content like Escape to the Country and Three’s Company, which are perfect for people to gather to watch from the comfort of their living rooms.”
In Europe and the United Kingdom, Pluto TV offers a handful of FAST channels that offer curated programming from Paramount’s intellectual property library, including Paramount Pictures, Showtime, Channel 5, Nickelodeon, MTV and CBS Studios. In most countries, Pluto TV also works with some third party rights holders to bring their content and channels to the platform.
