Comcast Advertising has hired former Major League Baseball’s global head of marketing to serve in a similar role for their firm, the company announced on Thursday.
Scott Weisenthal will serve as the head of global marketing and insight at Comcast Advertising, where he will oversee all global marketing and brand strategy initiatives for the company.
“With over two decades of marketing experience, Scott’s proven track record at Fortune 500 companies will be invaluable as we look to further integrate our insights, brand and product marketing efforts across Comcast Advertising,” James Rooke, the President of Comcast Advertising, said in a statement.
In some ways, it is a homecoming for Weisenthal, who worked for Comcast’s entertainment subsidiary NBC Universal from 2004 to 2017. He left NBC Universal to join Marriot as its VP of Global Creative and Content Marketing for three years, then led the Washington Post Creative Group for a year during the pandemic. He joined MLB as its SVP of Global Marketing in 2021.
“Comcast Advertising is at the forefront of innovation and continues to lead the industry by supporting publishers, agencies and marketers in navigating the incredible structural changes within media and technology, both in the US and across the globe,” Weisenthal said in a statement. “I look forward to leaning into this industry transformation to create differentiated, and above all, effective opportunities for our customers and business partners.”
Comcast Advertising includes a number of business-to-business products, including FreeWheel and Effectv.
