Sinclair has relaunched its nationally-syndicated news program under a slightly modified name.
Starting on Thursday, “The National Desk” added the word “news” to its title, becoming “The National News Desk” on dozens of local TV stations.
Launched initially as a morning show in 2021, The National News Desk has since expanded to include reports in evening hours and on weekends. The program airs on more than 80 local TV stations owned or operated by Sinclair, and streams on every Sinclair-owned local TV station website through a dedicated web channel.
“The rebranding to The National News Desk reflects our continued commitment to providing viewers with the most impactful news stories from across the country,” Scott Livingston, the Senior Vice President of News, said in a statement. “Since our launch, we have seen a continuing upward trend in viewership, with more than 3.5 million weekly viewers aggregated across the newscasts, demonstrating that there is a strong demand for comprehensive, commentary-free news coverage. We’re excited to continue expanding our reach and delivering high-quality journalism to our audiences.”
In addition to Sinclair-owned TV stations and websites, The National News Desk streams for free on YouTube, where it has more than 280,000 subscribers.
