The E. W. Scripps Company has promoted its senior director of media distribution to oversee the teams responsible for the broadcaster’s multiplatform distribution efforts.
On Wednesday, Scripps announced the appointment of Matthew Hijuelos to serve as the Vice President of Distribution, where he will lead the teams who execute on distribution and monetization strategies for Scripps-owned channels across broadcasting, cable television, satellite and streaming platforms, with an emphasis on the company’s national networks, local TV stations, sports and original programming.
Hijuelos succeeds Robin Davis, who is retiring from the company by the end of the year.
“Matt is a respected media and business leader with a track record for successfully managing complex distribution negotiations,” said Jason Combs, the Chief Financial Officer at Scripps. “His experience, extensive industry relationships and understanding of our business make him the right person to lead our distribution team.”
Hijuelos has worked for Scripps since 2021, when he joined the company as part of the broadcaster’s acquisition of Ion Networks. At Ion, he served as the Vice President of Business Distribution, developing and executing on strategies involving distribution, monetization and analytics.
Prior to joining Ion Networks, he spent two decades at Akamai Technologies, where he held various roles focused on business development.
