TEGNA has appointed John Treviño to serve as its President and General Manager of its Cleveland television station, the broadcaster announced on Monday.
Treviño joins WKYC (Channel 3, NBC) after serving in the same role at TEGNA’s dual ABC-NBC station KBMT (Channel 12) in Beaumont, Texas. He is credited with leading the station through a period of transformation and revenue growth, and expanding the outlet’s digital and streaming platforms, among other initiatives.
“John brings more than 30 years of experience in the local broadcast industry to Cleveland,” Larry Delia, the Senior Vice President of Operations at TEGNA, said in a statement. “His A+ leadership at KBMT-KJAC has been instrumental in driving transformational growth at the station. John’s leadership and expertise will elevate our team at WKYC and further strengthen our commitment to serving the Cleveland community.”
“My time at KBMT-KJAC has been an incredible journey, and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to grow our business, expand digital storytelling, and strengthen community connections,” Treviño said on Monday. “As I transition to WKYC — a station with a rich legacy of excellence and deep community trust — I’m excited to build on that foundation. I look forward to working with a talented team to drive innovation, enhance audience engagement, and position WKYC for continued success in a rapidly evolving media landscape.”
In addition to his work at KBMT, Treviño has also served in executive-level roles for TV stations owned by Nexstar Media Group, Fox Television Stations, Univision Communications and NBC Universal during his three-decade career. Treviño has spent most of his career in Texas, after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, and intends to relocate to Cleveland as part of his new role.
