
Local broadcaster Morgan Murphy Media has refreshed its C-suite with a trio of new executives, the company announced on Tuesday.
Chris Cornelius has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer, while Colin Benedict will now serve as Chief Innovation Officer. Neal Oberg is taking on the role of Chief Digital Officer.
Cornelius joined Morgan Murphy Media in 2014 as Vice President of Business Development. He will “drive operational excellence with specific focus on revenue growth and network and distribution relationships,” the company said in a statement. From 2003 to 2013, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Barrington Broadcasting.
Benedict, who has spent more than two decades with Morgan Murphy Media in news and management positions, most recently served as its Vice President of News. In his new role as Chief Innovation Officer, he will serve as a cross-functional strategist “working on identifying, developing, and scaling forward-thinking ideas and solutions that position the company for future relevance and growth.” He will also continue to oversee local stations’ news and marketing operations.
Oberg, who has been leading the company’s digital efforts as Vice President of Digital, will now hold the title of Chief Digital Officer. He will continue to oversee Morgan Murphy Media’s digital strategy and operations.

Founded in 1890, Morgan Murphy Media owns and operates a handful of radio and television stations in Kansas, Michigan, Texas, Washington state and Wisconsin. The company is headquartered in Madison, the location of its flagship TV outlet WISC (Channel 3, CBS).
