Stingray has expanded its footprint in Asia through a new distribution agreement with Jio TV, India’s largest digital entertainment platform, in a deal facilitated by Canal Plus-owned THEMA.
The partnership brings a curated lineup of Stingray’s audio and video streaming channels to millions of Jio subscribers across India, marking a significant step in the Montreal-based company’s international growth strategy. The channels are now available to all Jio subscribers through the Jio TV mobile app and on connected TVs via Jio Plus, which is accessible to JioFiber and AirFiber users.
The rollout includes a mix of music, lifestyle and ambient video channels spanning multiple genres and demographics. Among them are Stingray Classic Rock, Stingray Greatest Hits and Stingray 2000s, which focus on catalog-driven music programming from the 1950s through the early 2000s. Stingray Today’s K-Pop targets fans of contemporary Korean pop, while Stingray DJAZZ and Qello Concerts by Stingray offer jazz performances, full-length concert films and music documentaries.
Lifestyle and wellness-themed offerings include Stingray The Spa, Stingray Easy Listening and ZenLIFE by Stingray, which feature instrumental, meditation and relaxation-focused programming. Visual ambient channels such as Stingray Naturescape, Stingray Holidayscapes and Stingray Cozy Café deliver scenic backdrops and lo-fi soundtracks designed for passive viewing environments. Movie Music by Stingray rounds out the package with film score programming.
Stingray’s Chief Revenue Officer David Purdy said the agreement reflects the company’s strategy to broaden its global distribution footprint.
“We are thrilled to partner with JioTV and introduce our expertly curated content to a new audience,” Purdy said on Thursday. “This launch underscores our commitment to delivering premier music and lifestyle experiences to viewers around the world. India is a vibrant and dynamic market, and we are confident that our channels will resonate with the millions of users on the JioTV platform.”
Alexandre Bac, the Managing Director of Asia Pacific at THEMA, described the deal as a milestone for the Canal Plus subsidiary’s regional operations.
“Our partnership with JioTV marks a defining moment in THEMA’s growth across Asia,” Bac said. “India’s fast-paced digital evolution makes it a critical market for premium content, and we are proud to join forces with JioTV to bring Stingray’s lineup of FAST music channels to Indian audiences.”
Jio TV offers access to more than 1,000 television channels from over 200 broadcasters in 16 languages. Its Jio Plus aggregation platform combines live channels, series, films and news programming from premium OTT services and broadcasters into a single interface. The addition of Stingray’s channels further diversifies its music and lifestyle content portfolio as competition intensifies in India’s connected TV and mobile streaming markets.
