Hearst Television has promoted Andrea Stahlman to President and General Manager of WLKY-TV, elevating the long-time news executive to lead the company’s CBS affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky.

Stahlman succeeds Glenn Haygood, who is retiring later this month after more than 40 years in television broadcasting. The appointment marks a homegrown leadership transition at WLKY (Channel 32), where Stahlman began her career as an intern and later rose through the newsroom ranks to become News Director in 2012.

A Louisville native, Stahlman joined WLKY after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She was also a member of Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish volleyball team.

After her internship at WLKY, Stahlman was hired full time as an assignment editor. She later became a news producer, Executive Producer and Assistant News Director before taking over the station’s news department.

“Andrea has devoted her entire professional life to her hometown of Louisville and WLKY,” Michael J. Hayes, President of Hearst Television, said in a statement. “She knows this community like few other journalists ever have and is the ideal executive to shape and lead WLKY into the future.”

As News Director, Stahlman oversaw WLKY’s multiplatform newsroom, which produces more than 45 hours of live local news each week, along with digital coverage and special projects. Under her leadership, the station’s news operation earned multiple regional and national honors, including seven Ohio Valley Emmy Awards for Overall Excellence over the past 12 years.

WLKY was also named Station of the Year by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association in 2022 and has received three National Headliner Awards over the past two years. Since 2008, the station has won 17 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association, including honors for Overall Excellence, Best Newscast, Best Website and Breaking News. The station has also earned numerous regional Associated Press and Emmy awards.

Stahlman was honored in 2024 with a Seven Seals Award from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program that recognizes employers and individuals who support members of the National Guard and Reserve. She was nominated by a WLKY employee who serves in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

In addition to her degree from Notre Dame, Stahlman is a graduate of the Hearst Management Institute, the company’s executive leadership development program and the National Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcast Leadership Training Program.

Stahlman is a lifetime member of RTDNA and served as the organization’s Board Chair from 2020 to 2021. She is also a member of Leadership Louisville Center, a civic engagement and leadership development nonprofit.
