Fox Nation will debut a new stand-up special from comedian Jeff Foxworthy on June 1, Fox News Media announced this week.
The special, called “The Joke’s On Me,” is the latest stand-up comedy show to be offered on the streaming service, which has also offered similar specials from Roseanne Barr and Rob Schneider over the past few years.
“Few performers have shaped American comedy quite like Jeff Foxworthy,” Fox Nation President Lauren Petterson said in a statement. “This special captures the humor audiences have loved for decades while also reflecting on the moments, memories, and experiences that defined his extraordinary career.”
In the special, Foxworthy performs new material centered on family, aging and everyday experiences, subjects that have long served as the foundation for his comedy. Fox Nation said the program also includes documentary-style footage that offers viewers a look at how Foxworthy develops and refines his material before bringing it to the stage.
Foxworthy said the special gave him an opportunity to show more of the work behind his comedy.
“Comedy has always been about finding the funny in everyday life, but people don’t always get to see the work and process behind it,” Foxworthy said. “I’m grateful to Fox Nation for understanding the vision I had for this special and giving me the chance to share that journey with the audience.”
Foxworthy is among the most commercially successful comedians of his generation. He is the best-selling comedy recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy Award nominee and the author of more than two dozen books. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
He remains best known for his “You might be a redneck” jokes, which helped make him a household name in the 1990s, though his work has extended across stand-up, television, books and live touring. His television credits include hosting “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?,” “Bring the Funny” and “The American Bible Challenge.” He also co-created and starred in “Blue Collar TV.”
Foxworthy was a founding member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, the stand-up franchise that also featured Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White. The tour became one of the most successful comedy brands in the country, spawning concert films, albums and television projects.
His most recent special, “The Good Old Days,” is currently streaming on Netflix.
