DIRECTV has launched two national marketing campaigns aimed at promoting its live television, streaming and genre-based programming packages.
One spot features Philadelphia Eagles running-back Saquon Barkley and uses his signature hurdle as a metaphor for the increasingly complicated experience of finding live games across multiple platforms.
In the ad, Barkley goes through an exaggerated training regimen involving jumps, flips and hurdles. The setup mirrors the obstacles fans encounter when navigating apps, passwords, remotes and platforms to watch football.
The campaign centers on one of the more common frustrations among sports fans: determining where a game is airing when live sports rights are spread across broadcast networks, cable channels, streaming apps and digital platforms.
DIRECTV markets its service as a way to bring live games from broadcast and streaming, real-time scores, highlights and personalized sports discovery into one viewing experience, without the need to juggle subscriptions or switch in and out of apps.
DIRECTV is also promoting MiEspañol through a new national campaign featuring brand ambassador Adamari López. The campaign highlights the MiEspañol Genre Pack as a destination for Spanish-language entertainment, sports and news.
The company said the campaign is intended to showcase MiEspañol as an affordable package that brings Spanish-language programming together in one place.
The two campaigns are part of DIRECTV’s broader marketing efforts focus on reducing friction for television viewers at a time when premium video content is increasingly divided across several services, the company noted.
DIRECTV’s streaming plans are available to view by clicking or tapping here. The company continues to sell access to premium networks over satellite throughout the country as well.
