AMC has launched SELEKT Light in Czechia and Slovakia, replacing its former AMC Mikro service with a free, advertising-supported streaming platform.
The service debuted last Wednesday and requires users to register in order to stream content, but it doesn’t charge a monthly subscription fee.
SELEKT Light offers films, series, children’s programming and selected live sports drawn from across AMC’s television portfolio in Europe. That catalog includes action, comedy, drama, crime and western titles, along with local programming such as “Forbidden Zones” and “Tatras on a Plate.”
Live sports are also part of the offering, with AMC listing UEFA Nations League, Europa League and Conference League matches, Champions Hockey League and PDC European Tour darts among the available competitions. The company has not specified the full schedule of sports events that will be carried.
Users can access SELEKT Light through a web browser or Android and iOS apps. One account can be used across up to five devices, with as many as three simultaneous streams. The service launched with a Czech-language interface.
SELEKT Light replaces AMC Mikro, which shut down August 6 and had carried selected sports programming from Sport1 and Sport2.
AMC is using Applicaster’s Zapp platform to operate the service, giving the company a common technical foundation it can adapt for individual markets.
The SELEKT brand was introduced earlier in Hungary. Czechia and Slovakia are the latest markets in AMC’s broader regional rollout.
