Sinclair, Inc’s. local television station in Cincinnati will expand its local news offerings by debuting a new afternoon newscast later this month.
Starting September 21, viewers of WKRC (Channel 12, CBS & CW Network) can get local news, weather and sports updates during the station’s 3 p.m. newscast, hosted by Marella Porter and Adam Clements, the broadcaster announced on Tuesday.
Clements will continue co-anchoring “Local 12 News” at 4 p.m. with Meghan Mongillo. At 5:30 p.m., Kyle Inskeep will join Mongillo as co-anchor.
Jen Dalton will also expand her duties to anchor the station’s noon newscast while continuing her work with traffic and ARC Cincinnati.
Rebecca Smith is joining WKRC-TV as Health Reporter and host of “What’s Happening in Health,” which airs Sundays at 6:30 a.m.
The station is also adding “Local 12 News: Beyond the Podium,” a half-hour weekly political program premiering September 13 at 8 a.m.
Hosted and produced by James Pilcher, the program will focus on regional political issues through reporting, interviews and conversations intended to provide context beyond daily political headlines.
“With these new programs, we’re giving viewers across Greater Cincinnati more ways to stay informed throughout the day and more context around the issues shaping their communities,” Becky Gulden, the News Director at WKRC, said in a statement on Tuesday. “The new programming and anchor assignments also give our journalists new opportunities to showcase their strengths and deepen their connection with the viewers and communities we serve.”
