Sinclair has named Carol Kellum to the role of Vice President and General Manager for several television stations in Nebraska, the company announced on Monday.
Kellum will oversee KPTM (Channel 42, Fox) as part of her new job duties, as well as sister-stations KFXL (Channel 51, Fox) and KHGI (Channel 13) in the Lincoln-Hastings-Kearney television market, the broadcaster affirmed.
Kellum returns to Sinclair following the retirement of John Hannon, who will step down as Vice President and General Manager at the end of August. She previously spent more than 19 years as General Manager of KTVO (Channel 3, ABC & CBS), which serves the Kirksville, Missouri and Ottumwa, Iowa market. During that period, she also held responsibility for KHQA (Channel 7, CBS & ABC) in Quincy, Illinois and Hannibal, Missouri from 2008 to 2011, then again beginning in September 2025.
Kellum remained with KTVO and KHQA after Sinclair sold the stations in 2025. Her appointment marks a return to Sinclair as she takes over leadership of the company’s Nebraska operations.
“Carol is an experienced and accomplished broadcast leader with a strong understanding of local markets, station operations and the importance of serving viewers and advertisers across every platform,” Rob Weisbord, the Chief Operating Officer and President of Local Media at Sinclair, said in a statement.
Weisbord said Kellum’s leadership will be an asset to Sinclair’s teams in Omaha and the Lincoln-Kearney market.
“We are thrilled to welcome her back to Sinclair and know her leadership will be a tremendous asset to our teams in Omaha and Lincoln-Kearney,” Weisbord said. “We also thank John for his years of dedicated service and leadership and wish him all the best in retirement.”
Kellum said she was looking forward to returning to Sinclair as the local broadcast industry continues to evolve across linear and digital platforms.
“I’m excited to return to Sinclair,” Kellum said on Monday. “They are forward thinkers and understand the dynamic changes our industry is experiencing and will continue to experience.”
Kellum said she plans to build on the stations’ local service and community engagement.
“I look forward to working with the talented teams at KPTM, KHGI and KFXL and building on their strong commitment to the communities they serve,” Kellum affirmed.
