A California news anchor has obtained a protective order against a woman accused of shooting at a local television station multiple times earlier this month.

The anchor, Aaron Perlman, was told by police that he could have been a target in the incident, according to court records.

The warning came after police arrested Thomashana Renee Zeigler, 46, on suspicion of shooting in the direction of the TV studios of KBAK (Channel 29, CBS) and KBFX (Channel 58, Fox) at least twice in early October.

Zeigler made a court appearance earlier this week and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.

It isn’t clear why police believed Zeigler was targeting Perlman, who told investigators he had never met the woman. Prosecutors have yet to reveal a motive for the shooting.

A judge issued a protective order that requires Zeigler to stay at least 100 yards away from Perlman, his home and place of employment.

At least for now, the order should be easy to comply with, since the judge in her criminal case ordered her to be held without bail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for next week.
