Key Points
- Charter Communications is restructuring its Spectrum operations under a new management plan announced Monday by executive Nick Jeffery, according to an email obtained by The Desk.
- The changes are intended to simplify Spectrum’s operating structure, reduce management layers and improve accountability; Jeffery identified returning to Internet customer growth and improving customer service as the company’s two principal priorities.
- As part of the restructuring, Chief Commercial Officer Adam Ray and Chief Marketing Officer Sharon Peters will leave Spectrum at the end of 2026.
Two senior executives at Charter Communications’ Spectrum business will leave the company at the end of the year as the cable and broadband provider implements a new management structure intended to improve customer service and return its Internet business to growth, The Desk has learned.
Chief Commercial Officer Adam Ray and Chief Marketing Officer Sharon Peters will depart Spectrum in December, according to an internal email obtained by The Desk that was written and distributed Monday by Charter’s Chief Operating Officer Nick Jeffery, who is overseeing the restructuring.
“I am increasingly convinced that our unmatched scale in broadband internet, our distinctive video assets and attractive mobile offer are market advantages,” Jeffery wrote in the email. “However, in recent years we have failed to marshal those advantages into a winning strategy and have underperformed the markets, and our own expectations.”
The restructuring is intended to bring management closer to customers, accelerate decision-making and concentrate resources on Internet subscriber growth and customer service, Jeffrey affirmed.
“Our new organizational structure means we can move faster, be clearer about who is accountable, and more quickly fix the things that get in the way of our customers and our people,” he said.

Under the new structure, Christian Ruiz will oversee Spectrum Consumer, while Keith Dardis will lead Spectrum Business. Jeff Breaux will oversee Spectrum Wholesale, including RapidScale and Segra, which will remain operationally separate from Spectrum. Simon Cassels has been appointed Interim Chief Marketing Officer while the company searches for a permanent replacement.
Paul Woelk will oversee Business Planning and Business Intelligence. Cliff Hagan will continue leading Customer Operations, while Tom Monaghan will remain responsible for Field Operations.
The company is also searching for a Head of Integration and finalizing the selection of a Chief of Staff. Paul Marchand will temporarily handle a new Human Resources leadership position while maintaining his existing reporting relationship.
The organizational changes take effect immediately.
Ray has spent more than two decades at Spectrum, holding senior positions across sales and field operations. He became Chief Commercial Officer in 2022, overseeing marketing, residential sales, Spectrum Business and Community Solutions. During his tenure, Spectrum introduced its Spectrum One bundles, $1,000 Savings Guarantee and Customer Commitment, along with video packages incorporating the Xumo Stream Box.
Peters joined Spectrum in 2016 and helped introduce the Spectrum brand following Charter’s acquisitions of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. She has served as Chief Marketing Officer for nearly five years, overseeing advertising, brand strategy, customer research and creative operations.
Peters also oversaw marketing associated with Spectrum Mobile’s introduction in 2018 and the company’s more recent expansion into former Cox Communications markets.
Jeffery said most employees will retain their current positions, although some reporting relationships will change. Affected employees will receive additional information from their managers.
The restructuring comes as Charter seeks to improve its operating performance across broadband, video and mobile services. During its most-recent financial quarter, Charter lost 172,000 Internet customers — its steepest quarterly decline since late 2024 and well above the 116,000 broadband disconnects it reported during the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.
The company ended June with 29.4 million broadband customers, around 3.2 percent fewer than Q2 2025, with executives pointing to stronger competition from fixed-wireless products like AT&T Internet Air and similar offerings from T-Mobile and Verizon. Charter CEO Chris Winfrey acknowledged that a return to broadband subscriber growth was taking longer than expected.
Charter’s traditional television business has performed better. The company lost 21,000 video customers during the second quarter, compared with 80,000 a year earlier and 294,000 during the third quarter of 2024.
Charter also recorded a net gain of 44,000 video customers during the fourth quarter of 2025, an unusual increase for a traditional pay television provider. The company credits simplified pricing and the inclusion of streaming applications within its television packages for helping stabilize the business. Charter ended June with 12.5 million video customers.
Its Spectrum Mobile wireless business added 406,000 lines during the second quarter, bringing its total to 12.5 million, although additions slowed from 500,000 a year earlier. The number does not directly translate to customers served, because some wireless subscribers have multiple lines.
Charter completed its $34.5 billion acquisition of Cox Communications in August. Its third-quarter financial results, expected around October 30, will include Cox customers, making direct comparisons with earlier reporting periods difficult.

Team,
I am increasingly convinced that our unmatched scale in broadband internet, our distinctive video assets and attractive mobile offer are market advantages. However, in recent years we have failed to marshal those advantages into a winning strategy and have underperformed the markets, and our own expectations. In my first few weeks in the company, I’ve spent time carefully understanding how we operate and what we need to do to compete and win.
To this end, today, I’m announcing a simpler, flatter, operating structure. There are three reasons for this change: to get closer to our customers, to move faster with fewer layers, and to focus on our two biggest priorities – returning to core Internet growth and improving customer service.
Leadership changes
As part of these changes, Adam Ray, Chief Commercial Officer, and Sharon Peters, Chief Marketing Officer, will be leaving Spectrum at the end of this year.
Adam’s career spans more than 20 years at Spectrum with increasingly senior roles across sales and field operations, including leading our Florida region for nearly three years. As Chief Commercial Officer since 2022, he oversaw marketing, residential sales, Spectrum Business and Community Solutions. His team drove the commercial execution of Spectrum One, our $1,000 Savings Guarantee and the industry’s first Customer Commitment, along with our video packages built around the Xumo Stream Box, and most recently introduced Spectrum to customers in the former Cox markets.
Sharon joined Spectrum in 2016 and helped launch the Spectrum brand following the Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks transactions. In her nearly five years as Chief Marketing Officer, she led brand strategy, advertising, customer insights, media planning and creative for residential, Spectrum Business and Community Solutions. In 2024 she introduced Life Unlimited, alongside the Customer Commitment and oversaw the successful debut of Spectrum Mobile in 2018, marking the industry’s first converged offering of mobile with internet. Most recently she oversaw the rebrand and launch of our products to the former Cox customers.
Please join me in thanking Adam and Sharon for everything they have contributed to Spectrum over many years.
