Nexstar has finalized its purchase of KUSI-TV, an independent station in San Diego that will serve as the new home of the CW later this year.

The purchase will create a duopoly with the area’s Fox affiliate, KSWB, with CW programming moving to KUSI later this year.
“Inside California Politics,” produced in Sacramento by FOX40, will now be seen on several stations throughout California.
Sacramento’s KTXL FOX40 and San Diego’s KSWB FOX 5 could be sold to Fox Television Stations, according to a Nexstar source.
Nexstar Media Group formally acquired Tribune Media on Thursday, taking control of three dozen stations and selling off about a dozen more.
