Comcast X1, Flex boxes get Disney Plus, ESPN Plus
Comcast has started rolling out Disney’s suite of streaming TV apps to users of the cable company’s X1-powere devices.
X1 is the name of an operating system developed by Comcast for its line of next-generation video set-top boxes which also carry the X1 brand. The operating system offers access to Comcast’s live pay TV channels alongside third party streaming TV apps (Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, etc.) and data services.
Comcast uses X1 for its own hardware and licenses the operating system to third party Internet and cable companies. X1 is also the operating system that powers Comcast’s streaming television box called Flex, which is offered to the company’s Internet-only customers.

Customers with an incompatible X1 or Flex box can upgrade for free if they want to watch HBO Max or CBS All Access.
AT&T’s blockbuster streaming service HBO Max is now available on Comcast’s X1 and Flex set-top boxes.
The rollout comes more than six months after Comcast said HBO Max would be offered natively to X1 and Flex users.
The comments from Comcast’s chief executive on Tuesday verified a report published last month by a business publication.
