Bay Area radio station KGO has moved one of its top afternoon talk show hosts to the morning drive slot, a promotion that will see the relaunch of a live, local news program on one of San Francisco’s powerhouse stations.

The Morning Show with Nikki Medoro will air Monday through Fridays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. as part of the new weekday news talk lineup at KGO (810 AM). Previously, Medoro co-hosted an afternoon talk show program with Chip Franklin, who will continue his program from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.

“Nikki has done a tremendous job working with Chip Franklin in afternoon drive, and she’s earned this opportunity to host mornings on KGO,” Lee Hammer, the program director for KGO, said in a statement on Wednesday.

Medoro will be joined by veteran news broadcaster Bret Burkhart on the new morning program. KGO’s former morning program, the syndicated Armstrong & Getty Show, will move to sister-station KSFO (560 AM).

“Nikki and Bret will bring a fresh approach to the day’s news, both locally and nationally,” Hammer said. “They’ll also invite the Bay Area’s listeners to join the conversation and share their opinions.”

Medoro’s new morning news program will launched on March 2.

KGO and KSFO are owned by Cumulus Media.
