Amazon this week said it is rolling out a refreshed look-and-feel on its Fire TV line of streaming television devices.
The facelift will include a new profile feature that will allow Amazon Fire TV users to personalize apps and content based on individualized preferences. It comes a few months after Amazon launched a similar profiles feature on its Prime Video streaming TV service.
The new interface was first previewed in a press release in September but hasn’t been available to Fire TV users until now.
The new interface re-organizes Amazon’s presentation of apps and content in a cleaner, more-streamlined fashion. It also offers users the ability to watch a preview of TV shows and movies after scrolling over a preview thumbnail, a feature that has been present within streaming apps like Netflix for a few years.
Amazon’s current-generation Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite will be the first to receive the new interface. Other Fire TV devices, including most newer smart TVs with Amazon’s operating system, will receive the interface over the next few months.
