Stingray is expanding its European streaming footprint through a new distribution agreement with LG that will bring 20 of its free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels to LG’s free streaming service LG Channels across 13 countries.
The channels will begin rolling out in October to LG smart television owners in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom, the companies affirmed in a statement this week. The agreement includes a mix of Stingray’s music, concert and lifestyle programming, with several channels customized for individual markets.
Stingray Music will anchor the rollout, including localized “Total Hits” channels for France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Poland and Portugal. Other market-specific offerings include “Schlager” and “80s & 90s Pop” in Germany, “Chansons” in France, “Italo Disco” in Italy, “Soft Hits NL” and “Piraten Hits” in the Netherlands and “Fado Classics” in Portugal.
Qello Concerts will also launch through LG Channels in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The service offers full-length concert films and music documentaries. Five lifestyle and ambient channels will receive broader distribution across all 13 markets: “Cozy Café,” “Cityscapes,” “Free Riding,” “Loupe Art” and “Stargaze.”
“This partnership with LG marks an exciting milestone in our ongoing strategy to build and solidify Stingray’s presence across Europe,” Stingray CEO David Purdy said in a statement. “By delivering a combination of globally loved lifestyle video content and highly localized music channels, we are providing European audiences with a tailored, premium entertainment experience.”
The channels will be available on LG Channels starting in October. The deal builds on an existing agreement between LG and Stingray that includes powering music channels found on its streaming audio service LG Radio Plus and certain “Moodscapes” screen savers that activate on newer-model LG smart TVs.
